2/14/08 Cardinals Place 3rd in Frontier League Tournament. The Cardinals finished the highest they have all season while placing 9 wrestlers at league. Sophomore Cody Salzman led the way with a FIRST PLACE finish and league championship and Evan & Jacob were second. Travis, Chase & Caleb Clayton-Molby took third and John, Jackson & Max took fourth. 2/7/03 Cardinals Finish Dual season with Three Victories After posting straight victories against Anderson County, DeSoto & Paola, the Cardinal varsity squad will now turn their full attention to the Frontier league Championships at DeSoto High School on December 9th. The meet starts at 9:00 AM
1/21/08 Cody Takes First at Paola, Travis & Evan Second. Sophomore Cody Salzman continued his recent success by taking first place at Paola with a :20 pin in the finals. Travis & Evan continued to wrestle consistently throughout the day as they both made it to the finals to finish second. these finalist helped the Cardinals to finish in 7th place on the day.
1/17/08 Cardinals Fall Short Against Lansing but Rebound to Defeat Basehor. The Cardinals battled hard against a talented Lansing team and lost 39-30. Three straight wins by Cody (pin), Jon (Forfeit) & Jackson (pin) got the Cardinals out to a lead. Travis, Chase & Evan also recorded victories during the dual. Freshman Caleb Clayton-Molby made his varsity debut at 189 lbs. so that Evan could bump up to 215. Caleb wrestled tough and kept the match close, eventually losing 5-8. The Cardinals then defeated Basehor 56-18. Cody, Jon, Jackson, Dalton, Travis, Derek, Jake, Chase, BOOMER MAYS & Evan all got wins against the Bobcats.
1/14/08 Travis Clarke (5), Cody Salzman (6) & Evan Meyers (8) place at Bobcat Classic. Led by these three placers, the Cardinals finished 21st in the loaded 30 team field. The three medals ties for most medalists that Eudora has had at the tournamnet in six years. Max Campbell (2-2) and Gage Ham (2-2) were one round away from placing as the team wrestled better than the previous week
1/7/07 Seniors Lead the way at Bonner Springs Travis Clarke (140) and Even Meyers (189) were the top placers at the Dick Burns Classic with runner-up performances. Jake Love (160) came through the back door to take third. Picking up team points for the Cardinals were Sophomore Jon Chumbley (112), Junior Jackson Wiley (119), Senior Erik Ahlen (135) and Junior Derek Scrimsher (145).
1/7/07 Read about 125 lb. Cardinal Wrestler Dalton Hladky. Dalton, a sophomore, moved to Eudora this season and has been a great asset to our program!
12/10/07 Eudora High School to Hold regional Tournament on February 15-16 For the second time in three years, the Cardinals will host the regional wrestling tournament with the top four finishes advancing to the state tournament in Salina. To see which teams will be attending click here.
12/10/07 Four cardinals place in the 30th annual Eudora Tournament of Champions Senior Evan Meyers made it to the finals and was in line to become the first champion from Eudora since the tournament expanded to 24 team, but settled for runner-up. Jake Love finished fourth and Travis Clarke placed fifth after breaking his nose in the semi-finals. Senior Chase Rust made it to the bracket and placed eighth. as a team, the Cardinals finished in 13th place well off their runner-up performance of a year ago. 12/3/07 Cardinals Place Fifth at Tilton Worley Tournament After winning this tournament a year ago, the Cardinals had to settle for fifth place after being defeated in pool play by Pleasant Ridge and Horton. Senior Travis Clarke (140) and Sophomore Dalton Hladky (125) were undefeated on the day posting 4-0 records.

11/29/07 Cardinal fall to Chargers 26-48 in Season's First Dual Despite opening up with a 9 point lead against the #5 Charges, the Cardinals made costly mistakes in giving up too many bonus points through the middle-weights to a good, opportunistic Santa Fe Trail team. Mark Brune took a forfeit at 103 lbs. and then Sophomore Cody Salzman wrestled well to avenge a loss against Crotinger from a year ago 5-1. At 125 lbs. Dalton Hladkey won by technical fall over Carpenter. Trail then rolled off six straight victories before senior Jake Love pinned Elliot to get the Cardinals back on the board. Even Meyers recorded the final score of the night when he pinned Donely.
The JV was an impressive 18-4 on the night and newcommers Jimmy Thoennes & Darren Nabus recorder their first ever wrestling victories

11/16/07 The first week of the season has come to a close, but the effort in the wrestling room has been outstanding. 30 cardinals wrestlers are out for the squad this season led by seniors Travis Clarke, Erik Ahlen, Jim Thoennes, Gage Ham, Jake Love & Evan Meyers.

Cardinal Finish FOURTH at Frontier league Tournament. View results here League Champion Evan Meyers led the charge as 10 Cardinals placed in the top six at league. Even pinned four straight opponents including Andy Stanton of Prairie View in the 189 lb finals to secure his first ever league medal. Also making the finals were Matt (140), Kyle (145) & Tim (215). Several Cardinals wrestled tough on the backside to add additional points including Travis-3rd (130), Michael-4th (135), Jake-3rd (160), Chase-5th (171), Jackson-5th (112) & David-6th (152). Good job Cardinals! We hope to have our full line-up back and ready to roll at regionals this weekend!

(11/28/06) EUDORA 32 Santa Fe Trail 33 Despite winning 8 of 14 matches, the Cardinals gave up too many bonus points and fell to the Chargers by a point. Getting wins for the Cardinals were Max Campbell (125), Michael Whitten (135), Matt McPeek (140), Kyle Scrimsher (145), Jake Love (160), Loni Ogden (171), Evan Meyers (189) & Tim Durkin (215). CARDINAL FINISH 2007 DUAL SEASON: 15-4
Results for Concordia Dual Tournament: Tim Durkin placed first in his weight division by posting a perfect 7-0 record. Second place went to Travis Clarke (6-1), Jake Love (6-1) & Cody Salzman (6-1). Loni Ogden (5-2) and Evan Meyers (5-2) placed third. Overall the cardinal finished tied for second with Chapman but lost the tie-breaker due to head-to-head results.
(1/20/07) Tim Durkin and Michael Whitten lead Cardinals to 4th place finish at Paloa. Tim and Michael battled to the finals of their respective weight classes before dropping close matches to finish in second. Also placing for the Cardinals were Travis (3rd), Matt (4th), Kyle (4th), David (4th) & Jake (4th). (1/13/07) Tim Durkin leads Cardinals with a Runner-up Finish at the Bobcat Classic Tim defeated his first three opponents to make it to the finals of the Bobcat Classic where he eventually finished in second place. Travis was 4-2 and one round from placing. Michael battled well to a 3-2 record in a loaded 135 lb. bracket. As a team the Cardinals finished in 17th place in the 27 team field. (1/6/07) Cardinals Place Second at Bonner Springs Invitational Evan Meyers and Tim Durkin led the way as they both went 3-0 to place first. Travis Clarke, Michael Whitten, Matt McPeek & Richard Wilks made it to the finals as well. Cody Salzman, Kyle Scrimsher, Jake Love & Chase Rust took fourth. Alex Tacke was 3-2 and one round from placing. The Cardinals led most of the day until a late surge by Bellevue East pushed them past the Cardinals who fell to second. Senior David Westerhouse was injurded in his first round match and defaulted out the tournamnet. We hope to have David back in time for Regionals!! (1/4/06) Cardinals Defeat Ottawa & Wellsville but can't Defend Home Mat Against Trailblazers on Senior Night. Senior Richard Wilks, battling a stomach flu battled valiantly against Ottawa to secure the teams 36-33 victory, but the Cards could not keep the momentum going as they fell to Gardner 41-26. Honored seniors on the night were Michael Whitten (135), Matt McPeek (140), Kyle Scrimsher (145), David Westerhouse (152), Loni Ogden (171), Tim Durkin (215) & Richard Wilks (285). (12/16/06) Cardinals Battle Tough to Finish Second at Emporia Good breaks and tough backside wrestling allowed the Cardinals to hold off the host Spartans. The last weight class of the championships was 135 where senior Michael Whitten avenged an earlier loss to an Emporia athlete 12-4 to finish 3rd. Travis and Tim both made the finals. Loni, Matt & David also finished third. Points were also added by Cody (5th), Jake (6th), Evan (5th) & Richard (5th). Great job gentlemen! (12/09/06) Cardinals Place Second in Home Tournament After a solid first day, the Cardinals moved ten wrestlers onto the bracket and were able to hang onto second place. This is the first time that the Cardinals have ever brought home a plaque from their own tournament in the new format. (12/02/06) Cardinals win Worley/Tilton Dual Tournament On Saturday the Cardinal wrestling team improved on its 6th place finish from a year ago by capturing the gold medal with a 55-20 win over Effingham-ACCHS. The Cardinals were 5-0 on the day. Travis Clarke (130), Michael Whitten (135), Kyle Scrimsher (145), Evan Meyers (189) & Tim Durkin (215) move their records to 6-0 by going undefeated on Staurday. (12/02/06) Two Gold & Two Silver at Emporia JV Blake Stouder (215) and Chase Rust (160) both took first place for the Cardinals over the weekend. Thomas McLees (112) and Gage Ham (152) also made it to the finals and finished in second place. In all, 10 of 14 wrestlers finished in the top four. Great job!

11/29 Santa Fe Trail 53 vs Eudora 15 The Cardinals opened up their young season by battling the Chargers. Several Cardinal wrestlers did well with victories by Miles, Kyle, Jacob and Tim and will now focus on three straight weekends of tournaments to close out the first semester.

(02/21/05) Cardinal place third at Regionals and qualify 5 cardinal wrestlers for state. Led by the regional championship performances of Andy Coffman, Miles Cleveland & Josh Barr, the Cardinal made their highest placing in a tournament this year by taking third behind Fort Scott and Baldwin. William Bock placed third and Tim Durkin placed fourth to form the regional team that will represent Eudora at the State Championships. Chris Durkin, Matt McPeek and Michael Whitten where one round short of qualifying for state.

| Andy followed up his frontier league title with a regional title. Andy made his way to the finals and defeated Hunter Samuels of Tonganoxie 9-1 to earn his second state tournament appearance. | Miles had not won a tournament all season long but did so in dramatic fashion. Seeded fourth, Miles won three straight overtime matches and defeated league foe Josh Kohn 2-1 in the finals. | William persevered through a season full of ups and downs.but put it all together for an exciting run to the state tournament. William, drawn in, defeated the fourth seed, sixth seed, seventh seed and first seed to capture his first tournament placing of the season. | Timmy literally came out of nowhere. Drawn into the bracket, He defeated the five seed, the four seed and then lost 6-0 to Ross Starcher of Tonganoxie in the semi-finals. Tim then defeated the five seed again to qualify for state. | Josh is a repeat regional champion after he defeated Louisburg's Chad Roberts 9-4 in the finals. Josh will be looking to improve upon his 6th place finish at the state tournament from a year ago. |

(01/24/05) Senior Night Produces Two Victories for the Cardinals. In the last home meet of the season, the Cardinals came away with a 46-23 victory over the Ottawa Cyclones and a 72-6 victory against the undermanned Wellsville Eagles. The seniors combined for an 7-1 record on the night. Sophomore Kyle Scrimsher added two pins on the night as the team gears up for the tough Concordia Dual Tournament on Saturday.

(01/17/05) Josh Barr places fourth at prestigious Bobcat Classic. Despite solid efforts from the majority of the Cardinal wrestling team, only Josh Barr was able to medal in this perennially tough tournament. Barr wound up in fourth after dropping a 4-3 decision to ACCHS defending state-champion Chris Purcell in the consolation finals. Andy Coffman was 4-2 at the tournament and one round shy of medaling after a 5-1 defeat by Abilene's Colby Riffel. Miles Cleveland finished the tournament at 3-2 and wrestled well in a loaded 135 lb. weight class. Also picking up victories and helping the Cardinals in the team totals were Chris Durkin - 215 (2-2), Michael Whitten - 140 (1-2) and William Bock - 160 (1-2). (12/18/04) Barr places First at Emporia Winter Classic Senior Josh Barr was the lone medalist for the Cardinals at this tough pre-holiday tournament. The senior recorded two falls and two decisions in going 4-0 and capturing the gold medal. Several Cardinals recorded multiple victories on the day but came up short of the medal round.
(12/11/04) Eudora Places 13th at Home Invitational Led by the third place finishes of Josh Barr (189) and Miles Cleveland (135), the Cardinals ended up in 13th place at the 24-team Tournament of Champions. Tim Durkin (171) placed 4th, Andy Coffman placed 6th and Michael Whitten (140) finished eighth. Chris Durkin (215) won his pool but had to withdraw due to an injury and finish in 8th place.
(12/4/04) Cardinals Place Second After going 4-0 in pool A, the Cardinals matched up with Effingham, who won pool B, to settle the championship. The Cardinals battled tough but eventually fell to the Tigers and settled for second place at the Worley/Tilton Invitational. Andy Coffman (130), Miles Cleveland (135) and Michael Whitten (140) each went 5-0 on the day. The Cardinals now stand 4-2 on the season.
(11/29/04) Santa Fe Trail 65 Eudora 7 The Cardinals started off the season against 4A power Santa Fe Trail by dropping a decisive decision against the Chargers. Earning wins for the Cardinals were seniors Andy Coffman and Chris Durkin. Results will posted soon!!

| Topeka, KS: Cardinal wrestlers David Westerhouse, Miles Cleveland, Andy Coffman, William Bock, Josh Barr, Chris Durkin, alumni Mike Paxton and Coach DeWitt all competed in the Sunflower State Games on July 24th. Nice work guys! I thought everyone wrestled well with great intensity and did a tremendous job of battling every opponent. Congratulations to Mike for his runner-up finish and to Josh, Miles and Andy for their bronze medals. There were many positives from each match regardless of the outcome and each of you should be proud of your effort. |

Josh Barr (189) claims regional title and earns his first trip to state. Junior Josh Barr was the sole state qualifier for the Cardinal wrestling team following the 4A regional tournament in Hiawatha. Josh dominated the 189 bracket by pinning his first two opponents and then posted major decisions in both the semi-finals & finals to claim first place. Several Cardinal wrestlers won multiple matches during the tournament with sophomore Miles Cleveland (125) and junior Chris Durkin (215) coming one round short of qualifying. As a team, the Cardinals tied for 11th place.
Cardinals bring home five medallists from the Frontier League Tournament. Led by the runner-up performance by sophomore Miles Cleveland (125) and fourth place finishes by juniors Andy Coffman (119) and Josh Barr (189) and sophomores Austin Calhoon (130) and Ryan Pittman (135), the Cardinal now focus their attention on the regional tournament held in Hiawatha. Eudora takes on league powers Baldwin & Paola. Eudora was defeated by Paola & Baldwin in the final league dual of the season to finish 1-8 in the Frontier League. Results can be viewed in the results section. The junior varsity athletes concluded their season during the dual as well. Austin Hoover (140) competed well after coming back from a long injury break. Michael Whitten (130) finished 3-1 on the night. David Westerhouse (112) finished the night undefeated at 3-0 with 3 pins and Senior Michael Howell concluded his career with a second period fall.
The Cardinal went 2-3 and finished in 6th place at the Concordia Dual Tournament on January 31st. The Cardinals defeated Hiawatha & Nickerson and fell to Chapman, Newkirk, OK & Anderson County.
David Westerhouse (112) was the runner-up the Gardner JV meet on January 31st. Also placing was Michael Whitten (3rd) at 130 lbs.

(January, 8) Eudora falls flat in league opener against Gardner-Edgerton. After back-to-back technical falls by Andy Coffman (119) and Miles Cleveland (125) to tie the score at 10, the Trailblazers pulled away in the middlewights. Josh Barr (189) pinned his opponent to improve his record to 13-0.

The Eudora Cardinals went 4-0 in pool play on Saturday and pushed their record on the season to 4-1. Matt McPeek (112), Andy Coffman (119), Miles Cleveland (125) & Josh Barr (189) won all four of their matches on the day.

Miles Cleveland, Luke Powers & Mike Paxton compete in the Sunflower State Games. All three wrestled great against outstanding competition with Luke leading the way with a second place finish. Mike placed third, while Miles won a match in his division.
Mike Paxton receives scholarship to wrestle for Lindenwood University in St. Louis, Missouri. A state runner-up this past season, Mike will continue his wrestling career for the 2002 NAIA National Champion Lindenwood University while majoring in criminal justice.
Mike Paxton and Shane Grant participated in the Senior National Championships in Cleveland, OH March 26-30th. The Eudora Wrestling community is proud of Mike & Shane's accomplishments and we wish them the best of luck!

Hail Storm Doesn't Damper Awards Dinner Despite the arrival of the Spring's first storm during the middle of the awards dinner, the Cardinal Wrestling team was able to close out the 2002-2003 season. The team had to say good-bye to Cardinal Seniors Austin Roberts, James Barr, Luke Powers, Josh Barr & Shane Grant. A special thank you goes out to the senior parents who made a donation for the purchase of a wrestling banner to be displayed at meets. Additionally, the following awards were handed out:

Seniors Mike Paxton & Shane Grant close out their high school careers with state medals. Mike made his way to the finals of the 215 lb. bracket and placed 2nd behind Goodland's Jordan Bedore. Shane brought home a fifth place medal after pinning Baldwin's Sam Coffey in his final match. Sophomore Andy Coffman advanced to the second day with a 3-2 decision over Basehor's Zach Davis then lost a tough 4-0 decision to Fort Scott's Josh Sharp. Behind the performance of these three wrestlers, the cardinal finished in 17th place.
Andy Coffman (103), Mike Paxton (215) and Shane Grant (275) placed in the top four at the regional tournament and will represent the Eudora Cardinals at the 2003 state wrestling championships in Wichita.
Sophomore Andy Coffman led the way for the Cardinals with his gold medal performance at 103 lbs. at the Frontier League Championships held in Paola. Mike Paxton (215) & Shane Grant (275) finished second while James Barr (160) worked his way backdoor for a third place finish. Senior Luke Powers withdrew form the competition due to an injury and Miles Cleveland (112), Kyle Brouhard (119), Austin Roberts (140) & Josh Barr (189) finishes 2-2 and one round away from medaling.
Mike Paxton (215) places FIRST at the Bobcat Classic. Mike pinned all four of his opponents to claim the gold medal! Luke Powers (171) battled through a tough weight class to place FIFTH. Shane Grant (275) finished in SIXTH place after having to default his final match.
Luke Powers (171) & James Barr (160) place second while Andy Coffman (103), Mike Paxton (215) & Shane Grant (275) place 3rd at the Dick Burns Classic at Bonner Springs. The cardinals finished in sixth place overall.
After Andy Coffman (103), Miles Cleveland (112) and Kyle Brouhard (119) built a 16-0 lead on Gardner-Edgerton, seniors James Barr (160), Luke Powers (171), Mike Paxton (215) & Shane Grant (275) pinned their respective opponents to give the Cardinals the 40-33 victory. Eudora evened its dual record at 1-1 and is 1-0 in the Frontier League.

The Cardinals wrestled in their first dual of the year against #7 ranked Santa Fe Trail.
